一. 动机
动机其它是你对打动你的感受要去表达出来,有一种要表达的冲动。这时你才会想到用什么方式去表达,表达载体可以是画、音乐、舞蹈等等。但画更合适你的艺术取向你才去画画。无感动则无需表达,即使去表达也非常不理想,因心
中无因。

二. 如何表达
这取决于你感受到了什么,要表达什么。

三. 画画要具备什么条件
首先要有情感,无情感别动手。其次你的画不能打动自己别希望让观看者喜欢。所谓打动是你体会表达的再现,没有打动说明你的体会不够深刻。好的表达一定与你的思考深度、宽度、维度、角度密切相关。如果这些方面都有了你又能表达出来,一定不错。因此画后面是一个人整体思维关系的再现。

四. 题材
选绘画题材是由你选择的思考方式决定的。如果你的思考方式宽泛,表达关系复杂,你一定要找一个适合这种表达的场景和画种,就是这个目的。风景和水彩的表现很广,表现手段宽,而能否表达出来你要表达的思想内容则是对自己眼界和手法的挑战。这个过程阻力只是你自己。向自己挑战,完成这个过程你在成长。

五. 创作
是一个取舍过程,像厨师做菜,工匠制作产品。这其中的加工取舍过程由你的情感感受和你的思考结果来驱使。你去动笔,好的作品其情感的最后表达会促进思维方式和理性的前行、进化、发展。因为情感是画者将思想和情感放在一起交融产生的火花。画是这颗火花点燃的一个场景。

六. 技法
应该讲自己是没学过一天水彩画而作画的。学过一个月西方绘画理论,之所以不去专门学习,因为艺术门类感受就是自己最好的老师。而专门的学习很容易走入艺术误区,为画派所限,为技法所限,为门类所限,形成学院派画风在我看来是一种限制,形成容易出来难。因此我根本不打算进去也就不准备去专门学习。但我看过像柳新生、弗兰克等名人视频,并见过其中画家,交流过。然后用自己思考去体会如何画画。这样你画的才是适合你自己的水彩画。至于风格我没想过。只想这张画是否表达了我要表达的思想、情趣,其他不去多想。

七. 如何画画
道可道,非常道。画可画,非常画。画面构成非点、非线、非面、非体。但一定是画,四者为画,交相呼应。画画时要有强烈预设、随笔运行、随色彩流动变化、随图景变化、去处理新色彩、新关系、新组合。哪种组合关系好别去设定,而色彩关系与构图关系会告诉你这样结果常出乎意料也会更好。画画是一个思想画面、技法互相影响的过程,不要去可以控制什么,要尽量让几者之间多去影响,不要有主次。


As an amateur color painting enthusiast, painting is a media of creation for me to experience or to be enlightened, and then by the way, urge me to note down and organize my thoughts on the truth of art.

Motivation: I believe the motivation of painting is from an impulse to manifest one's conception of beauty and art. And it is then that you look for media such as painting or music to manifest your impulse. When there is no touching on one's heart, there's no need to do that.

How to manifest: it depends on what you have caught in your heart ,from which what you want to manifest.

Conditions that are necessary for painting:
First of all, you need to ask yourself "in what way is painting properly manifesting one's feeling?" . When you try to express, which part you think is fulfilled by painting? When painting properly explicits or expresses how you feel, then it is a right way you find for your expression. And when painting can not touch yourself, then it is unlikely it is touching for others. So "the touching " effect here is the manifestation and representation of your feeling and realization. A good manifestation must be in consistency with a good thinking pattern, which is one's overall thinking effort.

Theme

It is the thinking pattern that decides the theme of one's painting. If you have wildly open mind with a tendency to manifest complicated relationships, you have to find a proper scene and style of painting. This is why I choose the water color and landscape painting. The water color landscape painting has infinite expressive space and methods. On the other hand, there is a challenge for your coordination between eyes and hands that decide if your vision in mind can be manifested precisely. This is also a process and a time of your growth.


Creation is a process of picking -up and letting-go, just like cooking for chef and handcrafting for craftsman. This process is driven by the inner motivation - feeling. In the process of creating a good piece of work, feeling is motivating the rational thinking going forward, since feeling is the sparkling flash from the encounter and embrace of one's thinking , love and wit, which eventually lights up the picture.


Techniques

I have never taken any water color training class particularly and only had a month basic general training on the painting. The reason I don't go for that training is I am worried about being framed by the techniques and stereotype and styles. Having a stable style of painting in my opinion is a kind of limitation. It is easy to cultivate a stable style, but it is challenging to get rid of that or go beyond that. Therefore, I have no intention at all to build up my style and have a special training on it. But I have seen some videos of masters pieces of Liu Xin Sheng and Frank and some other collections. After that I tried to understand, to interpret and to paint. In this way, I believe it is one's own painting. And I have never thought about style. when I paint, I only consider if it is fully manifesting my thinking and feeling.

Some thoughts on painting

Tao that can be described is not the universal and eternal Tao. (Taoteching, Laozi). It works perfectly for painting too. The layout of a painting is not solely dots, lines or surfaces, but the combination of the four in a responding manner. Do not presuppose anything when you create your painting. To handle the new colors, relationships and combinations following the changes of the picture, colors as well as disposition. Do not presume which combination works better together. Watercolor reveals itself. The best outcome is always beyond expectation.

Painting is an interactive process of mind, picture and techniques. Let go of your deliberate control and leave the space for the interaction to happen, in which mind as the core is supplemented by others.
